Drosera oblanceolata

$15.95

Ease to Grow: Easy
Dormancy: No
Native Range: Cool highlands of Sunset Peak, Hong Kong
Zones: 8-9 (7-10)

The Sunset Peak Sundew, Drosera oblanceolata, is an Asian delight. It is easy to grow with dark red traps and beautiful glistening tentacles in full sun. There are fine white hairs on the petiole. The leaves are spoon-shaped and start green, but go through a nice color change into orange and red. They actively curl over onto their prey. It is a tropical sundew that grows year round, but more actively in Spring and Fall. It can tolerate a wide range of carnivorous plant conditions, but prefers a humid, sunny, cool location with consistently saturated, sandy-peaty soil. It can tolerate a light frost, but this will set it back for awhile. The flowers are pale pink with typically several are open at a time. It is self-fertile and seeds readily. It divides easily from leaf cuttings. It is a charming little tropical sundew, that will do well on a sunny window sill. It is an excellent terrarium plant. This selection comes from leaf cuttings, and is identical to the parents.

Plants are shipped bare-root, wrapped in damp sphagnum moss. Photographs are representative of species, and not the specific plant shipped.

Winter shipping is scary.... Add a heat pack

I placed my order 2.14.2024, CPN had it packed and shippednthe following day 2/15/2024. Denver, Colorado had been having wonderful weather high 60s up until about 4pm on 2.16 the clouds rolled in and bam 12F and blizzard. My CPN delivery was for the following morning 2.17.2024 I was freaked out the order was going to be frozen along with the bonsai tree (from another vendor I was supposed recieve on Friday afternoon), but it wasn't! CPN did and excellent job packing the order and all the soil/ water/ paper towels had temperatures in the mid 50s. All of the plants (D. Oblanceolata, spatula, 2x bog violets, 2x bog candles, bog button, live spahgnum moss) I ordered are doing great! The dormant violets already have leaves.

Moral is add a heat pack if your weather is likely to change during transit.

GREAT JOB CPN!

So far so good

I think this is my 3rd Drosera so I'm hoping this one makes it. Looking good so far.

Drosera onlanceolata

I received two sundews. As expected, dews are gone, but the plants are healthy! They are both recovering well, and they are colored up beautifully. I have them under my grow lights now, and they are thriving. Thank You.

Beautiful little sundew plant arrived in great shape wrapped in damp sphagnum moss. It was potted up and is happily producing new leaves like crazy.

Nice plant

Planted healthy bare root plant in peat mix. It’s happy under a humidity cover and grow lights. I gage it by the dew drops formed on the leaves. I fed it Maxsea diluted for foliar feeding and it went well. I’m happy to be growing this unusual plant.
