Leah Wilkerson is a Sarracenia x moorei hybrid that literally stands out in the crowd. It is very robust grower, showing unbelievable hybrid vigor with some pitchers over 50" tall, and hood diameters up to 6". In addition to its great stature, it has stunning coloration. The lower portions of the tubes are lime green. The tops are lemon yellow with large white areoles (windows), pretty red venation, and a wonderful red throat patch. The hood is peachy gold in color with ruffled margins, lined in red. Leah Wilkerson has two trap seasons, producing a few nice traps in the Spring, but a burst of large vigorous traps in the Fall, when it is very showy and other pitcher plants dwindle. It prefers open, sunny, damp conditions, but tolerates semi-dry ones. Trumpets tolerate light frost. The showy flowers are orange, and mildly fragrant. They generally bloom from April to May before the pitchers fully develop. Flower stalks and sepals last through the year, resembling reddish green daffodils. It is a cloned cultivar from a naturally occurring original plant from private property in Walton County, Florida, and is a wonderful accent or spectacular group display in the bog garden. It is well-suited for the backyard bog garden north into Canada with winter protection. The name honors Mrs. Leah Wilkerson, who has lived her entire life on the property where this plant occurs.

Plants are shipped bare-root, wrapped in damp sphagnum moss. In it's dormant season, it will be shipped as a dormant rhizome with trimmed off pitchers. Photographs are representative of the cultivar, and not the specific plant shipped.

Exceptional!

I received a beautiful dormant rhizome with a number of growth points. Clearly in perfect health, the plant arrived with great color and a full cleaned root mass.
The packing was perfect. The rhizome was wrapped in damp long fiber sphagnum with a damp layer of paper towel. This was secured with rubber banding. Then it was placed in a heavy plastic bag, and the entire thing was taped securely inside the box. Well done! I can’t wait to see the show this year!

Very happy with purchase

Very large and healthy. So happy to have found this site. My 7 year old is into "bug eaters" and loves the ones with "red mouths " this one fits his criteria.
